Flower Explosion

DSC_2835

I am always amazed at how quickly winter turns into spring. How one day you see some green poking up through the dirt, and then barely a week later. Flowers everywhere.

This Hummingbird Moth loved the flowers!

And just as quickly as they bloomed, the flowers faded away. Not to be seen again for another year.  I love these flowers that fill the front garden with giant splotches pf color. I just wish the blooms stayed longer.

Old Salem Wandering

DSC_2999

My favorite time to explore Old Salem is on a weekday evening, when not many people fill the streets and I am free to wander about.

I always head towards the back corners of the  village. The knobby cobblestone paths are quieter there and less often traveled.

Towering trees stand tall over my head. Some of them must be as old as the buildings themselves.

Nestled between the buildings are many hidden corridors and twisting paths. There is never a lack of places to explore.

One of my very favorite things about summer is the long warm nights that are often spent exploring.

Cherry Blossoms

DSC_2722

Many Streets downtown are lined with cheery trees and for a few weeks each spring, there is a glorious display of light pink cherry blossoms.

These particular trees are right outside my office window at work. I’ve never had a desk near a window before so I was quite overjoyed to be looking at these trees every day. One day they were looking so pretty I had to race right back there after going home to get my camera so I could take some pictures. .

I love walking along the city sidewalks, underneath all the blossoms. I just wish the trees stayed in bloom longer. A few days after I took these photos, some huge storms came through and all the flowers were washed away. I wish flowering trees kept their blooms all summer.

Return

DSC_3660

I have returned!

I have a new camera, new laptop, new photo editor, and I what I hope is new inspiration.

There are quite a few posts that have been hanging out in my drafts, waiting around for me to figure out what to say about them so those should be appearing soon.

Stay tuned!

Snow

dsc_0052

I love how snow makes the world I know, look like a whole new place. How it clings to every surface and transforms it into a magical land.

We only got one snow this winter. I dream of one day living in a place where snow covers the ground most of the winter.

NYC: On the Streets at Night

DSC_0346

New York City is a crazy place, whose streets don’t slow down as the darkness falls. The bright, sparkling lights of the skyscrapers illuminate the streets for as far as the eye can see.

DSC_0438

…And some areas grow even brighter as the sun goes down, hitting you with blinding lights as you turn the corner. Sometimes you forget that is isn’t the middle of the day!

(I love the giant towers of steam!)

But no matter how dark, or how late it got, I always felt very safe on these busy city streets, which is a lot more than I can say about my own city.

I love exploring this city, no matter what time of day!
